Has anyone seen this play yet? I did a few weeks ago, and thought it was brilliantly written. There is a period of three years between the first and second act, and you see how the relationships between two couples changes for better and worse. It's almost like a sitcom...except more realistic, and more emotionally draining. I cannot explain it well enough to make it seem more appealing, but I wasn't expecting to be that blown away, but by the end I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The performances are extremley powerful and moving, and I'd recommend it to ANYONE, whether they were into theatre or not.

Since this year's Manhattan Theatre Club season, with few exceptions, has been so dire, I was about to skip "Between Us," even though I had a subscription ticket (which was actally to the cancelled "The Rhythm Club"--so I didn't really know what I was going to see). But my fellow-subscriber friend said: "It can't be any worse than 'Rose's Dilemma'," so I went. I was also impressed by the level of writing and acting--and the play actually got better in the second act! I can't remember the last time this happened. It turned out to be a very sharp piece of work, socially and psychologically. This play had my friend and I talking about it all the way home and over drinks. It doesn't break any new ground, but it's well worth seeing.
