Really nothing new. Many ancient forms of theatre were associated with prostitution. Some use of nudity in theatre is much the same.
I do remember a Terrence McNally play being abrasive in that some male roommate just stolled out stark naked for no reason other than to flash a bare bod.
In contrast I found the sight of Karen Finley's nude body covered in glistening honey under the lights to be almost poetically beautiful. I hope there is room for artistic sensuality; her political feminist expression of this is MY body and I'll do what I choose with it breaks through with a kind of tenderness for human vulnerability.
After all the nonsense about Janet Jackson and her boob that we had to live through, I hope we are not headed into a new Puritan phase.
