I think most of the male roles sing, but the role of Pap could get by sing-speaking his song "Guv'ment".
does mark twain sing in a standard production( i know he sang in the revival because the whole huck being deaf)
What college do you go to? I'd love to see the show!!
Florida School of the Arts it's north florida. It's starting to get well known. We currently have a few people out on tours( One of them is Mr. Mistofeles in Cats tour). Also we have "Damien" from Mean Girls as an Alumni

It really all depends on what size cast they are using. In the original, most of the men played several roles, and all had to sing. The entire cast was 19 people. The show can be done with a larger cast, and there are several male roles who have no solo singing.
I disagree about Pap...I believe he needs to have a good singing voice, because Guv'Ment would be a terrible song if he couldn't sing...
Tom sawyer talks through his song, mark twain doesn't sing in the show..there is some tiny guy parts that you don't have to sing to play also.
Tom Sawyer does need a decent singing voice for "We Are the Boys," though.
And if you don't cut, there is "Hands for the hog" song by Tom Saywer. Non (solo) singing roles would be Preacher, Doctor, Counselor Robinson, all ensemble type roles.
