To make a long ( & un-necessary ) story short. I thought about Chita Rivera & Gwen Vernon to do "Gotta get a gimmick" from Gypsy. Would this ever be possible?
Do big name actors reject these roles?
Director's don't even bother trying to give them these kinds of roles?
They have a contract or something against these roles?
(I was just thinking cause everyone says "There are no small roles, only small actors" and it would be funny if big name actors don't follow this themselves)

Well, since Gwen is dead, I doubt she'll be interested in playing Mazeppa...
You know, back in the day with The Group Theatre, they put big actors in ALL the roles, even the non-speaking ones, rather than making a cast list look like a talent barometer--good actors in the leads, weak ones in the chorus....
I for one, would love to see that happen, although with stars come star salaries, and in a show like Wicked that costs alot to run every week, it's probably too cost-prohibitive.
But a great idea for living actors.
