I ran across a cast recording of this starring Kristin Chenoweth and I was wondering what its about if anyone knew...

It about a beauty competition and the runner up who tries to snatch a rich husband. (I think). I've only listened to it a couple times. Kristin has one song, and she's in a few more. Her song is ok, but don't get it if you just want to hear her.

The recording is of the 1998 York Theatre Company off-Broadway revival of BILLION DOLLAR BABY, starring Ms. Chenoweth, Debbie (Shapiro) Gravitte, and Marc Kudisch. It was a flop musical from the 1940s by Comden and Green.

Take my advice. This recording is for die-hard Chenoweth fans and cast album collectors ONLY. All others will be scratching their heads.

The score sounds a lot better with the actual orchestrations, though what was accomplished with a band of four is pretty lively.
