Blackbird lighting

Saw Blackbird today,  loved it.  Have read the script many times since college when it came out.  Noticed something weird today:

Were there no lights in the theatre to light the stage?  Was every light practical (except the spotlight during her monologue).  I was in a weird spot in the orchestra where i was under the mezz overhang and couldn't see any lights anywhere except the stage.  I sound like I never seen theatre before.  Just was cool how it was done

There are a few lights all the way up near the balcony. Mostly large pars with color correction (R60-ish), so you don't really notice them.
