I respectfully disagree.
I think he sounds like an Eddie Vedder wannabe, but he's my favorite...

Posted: 4/5/05 at 9:07pmHe definately should have sung "Gethsemene" (sp?). And if he was going to do something from "Pippin", it should have been "Simple Joys".

Posted: 4/5/05 at 10:48pmI thought he did a wonderful job with Corner of the Sky! Bravo Bo! Best singer of the bunch!

little sally-I thought the same thing. He could've done a rock version of "simple joys" like Raul Esparza did at Broadway Under the Stars.
Did he make up those lyrics on the spot or what? I was like "huh?"

bo drives me INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE. his voice is really irritating, and i just want to tell the guy to either a) use conditioner, or b) CUT HIS HAIR
and he can't really pull off a shiny red pleather shirt.

Posted: 4/5/05 at 11:16pmis there a song list published somewhere for this show? i'd like to see just which songs they had to choose from.

Posted: 4/6/05 at 12:11amForgetting Lyrics in AMERICAN IDOL is forgivable. He was performing it in the revival of Pippin, it would be a different story. I just assumed he was using different lyrics than the original song did, which is quite possible. And eventhough I loved Anthony's song, did you hear that word screw up? Much more obvious than Bo's I believe, especially for people who dont know musical theatre.

You did NOT. I love Adam far too much to even give any consideration to the fact that you said that.

Mumbling the lyrics???? He made me cry.
I take issue with the arrangements of the songs. They all sounded like songs you would hear from a cheap lounge act in Las Vegas.
As for Bo sing "Simple Joys"...I may have had a heart attack. As he was mumbling through "Corner of the Sky" I closed my eyes and heard Michael Arden's voice singing the song, at the Reprise! production a few months ago I saw it twice), if he had tried to sing "Simple Joys" he would have hurt himself with the "Nah, nah, nah's" at the end of the song.

Posted: 4/6/05 at 3:50pmI didn't enjoy Bo last night. I felt he should have chosen something from Hair! I disagree that he sounds like Adam. Actually, his voice is a dead ringer for David Clayton Thomas.

In Bo's defense, if you buy the Pippin sheet music, they changed the lyrics(I'm not really sure why) and Bo sang the last two verses with the lyrics printed in the vocal selections book.
But I agree with the majority here that it was pretty horrible.

Posted: 4/6/05 at 4:36pmI kinda liked it? I don't know, I thought it worked well enough. It would have been interesting to hear Bo sing a more sentimental song (someone on another board suggested Edelweiss) but I thought he did okay with it, and kind of made me wish I'd seen a rockier production of Pippin!

Bo, Bo, Bo--
Clearly the words
You did not know
Pippin was the show
Corner of the Sky was the song
Your singing wretched
your lyrics, wrong.
SIDE NOTE:
I think the poem is just about as good as his performance.

His voice reminded me of Raul Esparza's, a bit.
That was the first episode of American Idol I've watched since...I don't know when. Probably the first season.
