Bobby, bubbe-

ok kids, "Bobby" in COMPANY...gay or straight?
it sure would explain a lot and be marvelously interesting for gay composer Sondheim. I know Chris Sieber played more with latent homosexuality in the role when he recently played Bob.
What do y'all think?

re: Bobby, bubbe-

Chris Sieber was marvelous. As his is the only performance I've seen, and because I knew he is gay, I felt the character was especially less interested in woman than I might have thought he should be.

But it seemed like he truly wanted to hit it off with a woman....but never did.

the Sondheim.com board "Finishing the Chat" has endless posts about this.

re: Bobby, bubbe-

Really, he could go either way depending on the direction and performance. I believe he was originally written as being definitely gay, then changed to straight (or at least ambiguous) somewhere during the original creative process.
