Mary McCormack's television show 'In Plain Sight' for the USA Network (which is apparently the highest rated new scripted series of the year) was just renewed for a second season.
Production is expected to begin in New Mexico in October, so she'll have to leave the show sometime in the next month or two.
Other than her, I believe the rest of the cast are all contracted at least through January, if not a year through May.

"Committed to Broadway until the first week of September, McCormack's been asked to stay on. "I'd love to, but I have to wait to see what's happening with 'In Plain Sight.'"

Posted: 7/27/08 at 11:58amNo offense, but the show could use a replacement for Whitford, the weakest link in the show in my book. Maybe they could get an actor who concentrates on what he's doing instead of dropping character and energy and looking at the audience and making eye contact when he's not speaking.

I was under the impression that it was this cast that was making this play good. And tha4t the play itself really isn't that good. I remember reading about how one of the headlines for the Sydney production of the play was called "Boring Boring." I do wonder if the play can continue with replacements or if it is in fact the cast that is making the show good.
I just wonder if it is one of those shows that has a strong enough script that it can do well with any cast or is it something where the script is bad but the right cast can do magic on it?

Posted: 7/27/08 at 1:25pmHaving worked on this show many, many years ago in summer stock, and having seen it a couple times in community theatres and dinner theatres, I'd say that the success of this production is definitely the cast -- and even more the DIRECTOR.

Posted: 7/27/08 at 5:14pmI was at the show last night and someone next to me made it a point to ask everyone how long they are staying. They all said at least until Sept 7th (Gina didn't come out, but I assume the same goes for her). The only two people who are DEFINITELY not staying past Sept 7th (after last night's question) are Mary & Bradley. Mary has her show and Bradley wants to go back to LA and see his kids off to school. Mary mentioned that many were considering staying after the Sept 7th date. Hope that helps.

Well crap (for lack of a better word). As a huge West Wing fan, I was rather hoping to see them. If Mark Rylance is still there, though, it should still be a good time.

Posted: 7/27/08 at 5:31pmI just saw this show on Wed. Mark Rylance made the show for me. If he were staying around, I would definitely see it again.

Posted: 7/27/08 at 5:48pmYes, Mark Rylance alone is worth seeing the show. I saw him do it last year in London playing his role as a Brit, and this year on Broadway in the same role but played as an American. His comic timing is something to experience!

Bradford Whitley.
(One day I won't find that funny any more. My sense-of-humour being what it is, I suspect that day is a long way off...)
I just found out that Mark Rylance was Henry V at the very first production at Shakespeare's Globe here in the UK (after they rebuilt it :P). Colour me gutted for missing that.
Can we have him back some time soon pls?

I saw the show Friday night and had a great time...this is what the revival of "Noises Off" a few years back should have been...
Loved everyone in the cast EXCEPT Whitford. He wasn't bad, butI was VERY distracted by his mannerisms. Has he been directed to play it so, for lack of a better word, fey--or did he come to that decision on his own.
Mark Rylance was in a class by himself and Christine Baranski almost his equal, but I was very impressed by the comic chops of Hahn, McCormack and Gershon. Gina did come out that night and I was surprised at how tiny she is...and actually how built like a brick s***house Mary McCormack is.
Oh..and Christine very nicely signed my Mamma Mia soundtrack booklet as well as the Playbill.
