Book of Mormon and Joseph Kony

During the show's preview period and early premiere, the character of Joseph Kony gradually evolved instead into General Butt F*CKing Naked, due in no small part to the fact that no one got any of the Joseph Kony jokes.

"Elder Kony"/Joseph Kony gradually became "Elder Warlord"/Generic Warlord, before becoming "Elder B-F-N"/General B-F-N officially.

What I can't help but wonder is, in the years since previews began, since Kony became an immensely memetic figure, have any of the old Kony references ever been reinserted into the show? It seems highly topical now, but I don't know if such a thing would still play well.

They haven't changed any of the material. Why bother?

Trey and Matt's opinion on the Kony issue have been addressed in an episode of South Park. The B-F-N joke works very well, even with those who are not familiar with the reference. Why would they change something that is proven to work with audiences to reference a controversial and ridiculous topic like Kony 2012?
