Books/Movies/Events you'd love to see on stage

I know there's a thread on this, but I cannot find it for the life of me!

Books/movies I'd love to see on stage someday:

-Beetlejuice

-The Stepford Wives

-Rosemarys Baby (ironically, Stepford and Rosemary are written by the same guy, who also wrote Deathtrap. I could actually see Rosemary working in a very abstract sort-of way)

-A Corner of the Universe (I freaking love this book! But Ann Martin's agent didn't like the idea... sigh)

-Rage (if anyone has read this book...it is truly creeptastic...the original Bang, Bang, You're Dead...and one of Stephen King/Richard Bachman's best)

-Garden State (I don't know how well it would translate...but I just love the idea)

-Humbolt County

-The Sixth Sense

-The Nanny Diaries (the book. Not the movie. I think it could work. Only with an adult actor playing Grayer though...)

-something based on the Stanford Prison Experiment

...That's all I got.

Again, I know this has been posted, but find me the thread, I'll post this on there.

Movies -

The Nightmare Before Christmas,
The Bucket List (perhaps could add more characters, or keep it as intimate as it is)

T.V. shows -

Gavin & Stacey (UK comedy/drama)

Books -

The Historian,
A Series Of Unfortunate Events (not sure how it would work, but would love to see it!)

I wrote book and lyrics for a musical of Beetlejuice, but early into the composition process, my composer quit, so the project is lingering in development hell. I don't want to apply for the rights until I have songs to show them on spec.

It would be very difficult, but I think a musical of the Joe Dante film MATINEE would be interesting musical material.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I'd love to see a stage adaptation of Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty, but one of the things I love so much about that movie is the use of Tchaikovsky's music, so I don't know how well I think that'd work.

I'd also love to see a stage adaptation of Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

For the Boys- I think this could be a better musical than it was a movie and I'm a huge fan of the movie.

Rear Window as a play.

An Affair to Remember as a musical.

Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell as a musical.

darquegk, **** getting rights!! Do it anyway.

givesmevoice, I agree on Bedknobs!! Sleeping Beauty is horrific though... I actually watched it the yesterday, and wondered how I was able to suffer through it as a kid.

Add to list:

The Craft (if it was done SUPER carefully)

American History X (alright...that's like three Fairuza Balk films now, but seriously...I think this one would be epic)

Lars and the Real Girl

The Social Network (weird concept, I know...but I think it'd be such a cool play)
