Bookwriter/lyricist wanted to collaborate via e-mail with an LA-based, 38-year-old composer on your complete or nearly complete script.
Must have experience on Broadway, ability to write with commercial appeal, and be willing to take the lead in getting the project to the next step after music is written, whether that includes submitting to contests or (preferably) to industry contacts you have. Looking for someone whose talents are primarily in lyrics and book, not music, as I’ve realized mine are the opposite.
If interested, send me an e-mail that tells your experience, what you have that you’d consider us working on, and anything else about you that you think I should know. If there’s a potential match, I’ll send you a few samples to see if you’re interested in going further.
You can find my profile on the Dramatists Guild website: http://www.dramatistsguild.com/memberdirectory/getmembership.aspx?cid=40328
Some disclaimers:
I have written music for unproduced musicals, as well as musicals for elementary school productions, and am happy to share samples with you before you agree to go any further. I have a full-time job in Los Angeles, but make time for composing on the side. The "after it's written" part would be your domain, as I don’t have industry connections nor do I have the schmoozing skill set. My role would be exclusively on the creative, musical end, but happy to contribute financially as needed. I don’t have any “stories to tell,” so please don’t ask me that. I just want to create memorable and stirring music that brings your well-structured, poignant story to life. My musical theater favorites are Les Mis, Phantom, Book of Mormon, Westside Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Wicked, Chorus Line and Joseph, to name a few. I’m not a big phone guy, so our communication would be primarily via e-mail.
