How long is Spelling Bee planning on staying in Boston, I've hear it's an open ended run, but is that true?

Yes.
They did the same thing in San Francisco and that production ended up running for about 6 months.

Even if the show isn't selling out, I don't think there are any shows that are lined up to take over, so it's pretty safe as long as it's not losing too much money.
The show basically saved the Wilbur Theatre from being closed forever. Perhaps some other theatre companies will think about using the Wilbur as a theatre again.

"The show basically saved the Wilbur Theatre from being closed forever."
That is patently untrue.

Well, the Wilbur's been vacant since "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" played there a few years back. I've heard it's the perfect size for the Bee, so I'm glad they're using it. It sounds like it would be a good choice to host the Sweeney Todd tour next year.
BTW, are they selling the seats in the balcony for the Bee?

When I went to see Bee, the only seats were in the orch and mezz. The balcony was blocked off with lighting.
