Box Seats

Posted: 10/5/04 at 6:02pmHey everyone. This is random.. sorry. I was wondering if you had to buy tickets for the Box Seats at the theater or not. Or can you get them online? I've never seen box seats listed for any shows, so I just thought I would ask. Thanks :) Updated On: 10/5/04 at 06:02 PM

Posted: 10/5/04 at 6:08pmI've gotten box seats at TKTS before. I honestly can't understand why you would ask for them. As a rule they're pretty bad. They go back to a time when some people went to the theatre to be SEEN - not to SEE. The views of the stage from there can be pretty limited.
A click for life.

the ONLY good things about sitting in a box seat is:
-its usually cheaper
-you're really close to the stage
- you can see some of the action backstage

Posted: 10/6/04 at 12:39amThose box seats were the only tickets I could get for Hairspray when I wanted my boyfriend to see the show and I don't recall the price being reduced. He enjoyed the show from that angle anyway and, since I'd seen the show a few times earlier, I had fun watching what was going on backstage. Thankfully, he got to see the show again from center orchestra.

Posted: 10/6/04 at 10:57amNot sure if it's true in all cases, but in some, the box seats are only available at the box office (and maybe TKTS), but not online. So if you are trying to get tickets for some shows, it's probably a good last-chance option. I don't think the tickets are any cheaper.

Posted: 10/6/04 at 11:00amI got them from TKTs for Boy From Oz while it was in previews...they were horrible! We were on the second level, and we had two other women in our box sitting in front of us, so maybe it would have been better if they weren't right in front of us...we couldn't see A THING! We were practically hanging off the side trying to see.

As a rule the Shuberts consider all box seats to be obstructed view locations and they only sell obstructed views at the box office.
Usually the box seats are priced the same as orch + front mezz. They are also among the first seats to get dumped at tkts.
I don't know about the other theatres.
