I was just informed by an extremely reliable source that Brandi Chavonne Massey (last seen on Broadway covering Elphaba in WICKED) has been cast as the new Celie in the New York company of THE COLOR PURPLE.
Massey, who will replace Fantasia in the role, begins performances January 9th.
Though an official press release is expected early next week, Massey has already announced that she is joining the show on her official MySpace page.

Posted: 11/30/07 at 7:27pmI saw her in ATL over the summer in Dreamgirls. And I've seen her "Defying Gravity" a la youtube. That girl can sing. Her "Defying Gravity" is my favorite. So much power.
