#BBTFNY, the boutique theatre showcase committed to empowering playwrights to actively shape their success, is returning to the heart of NYC’s theatre district for its fourth year.
Taking to the stage August 10th through September 6th, 2020, 20 of the most stimulating original plays will be selected to receive three performances in the renowned Off-Broadway performance center, Theatre Row. Right on 42nd Street Theatre Row has been the choice of many professional Off-Broadway premieres.
From acceptance, BBTF participants receive hands-on training and support to ensure a top quality production.
“Historically, New York City festivals have had the sink-or-swim philosophy, which has resulted in many playwrights burning out from the process. BBTF is unique in that it was founded on the principle that producing one’s own work can be an exhilarating and empowering experience, if done with support and education,” says Festival Director Lenore Skomal. “We look forward to reading everyone’s work.”
The BBTF experience includes workshops, regular information packets, access to an interactive online forum, personal relationships with the key festival staff members, audience talk backs, and complimentary tickets to attend every other show in the festival.
“We believe in replicating the Off-Broadway experience for our playwrights and giving them 100 percent support every step of the way,” says Skomal.
