ew York – January 14 – Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today founder, Joseph Macchia, is pleased to announce the recipients of the organization’s 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award and two Spirit Awards.
At the annual gala on May 15th at Metropolitan Room in New York City, Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today will honor a kindred organization, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS with the Spirit Award, and a second Spirit Award has been designated for Cabaret Scenes editor and entertainer, Frank Dain. The 2016 Ruth Kurtzman Cabaret Cares Lifetime Achievement award honoree is Alyce Finell, co-director of the Mabel Mercer Foundation.
Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today is a 501c3 charity that assists children and youth living with HIV and AIDS. Since its founding in 2005, the organization has raised over $100,000 and assisted more than 700 children in need. Fundraising is undertaken primarily through monthly performances by many of New York’s finest nightclub and theater performers, and supports the annual Backpack and School Supply Drive, scholarships for summer camp and an annual Holiday Toy and Gift Drive. The charity also helps families with special and immediate needs. Help Is On The Way Today is currently working on a new mentoring initiative, and is on track for a record breaking fundraising year.
