Oh, at the first preview of CAROLINE, OR CHANGE I wore smart-ish jeans and a t-shirt. Everyone looked awful anyway, it was pouring with rain and everyone was sitting there soaked.

Well it sure has me confused. I've heard eveything from dressy to jeans. I would have thought dressy. I've been told so many different things from so many different people that I've decided I may be over or under dressed but I'm just going to wear what I think looks good and that will be that.

I never wear jeans when I go to broadway. I usually wear a skirt, or sometimes nice beige or black pants. The top doesn't matter as much, just don't look like a slob. :)
I say wear something business-casual. No jeans or shorts, but otherwise anything goes. That'll keep your options open.
"Maybe it's because I was raised on classical music concerts and operas, but I think going to see a performance (other than something like a rock concert) in shorts and a T-shirt is kind of rude. I don't go completely formal for a Broadway show, but I'll dress nicely- it's a sign of respect."
Plum, I wasn't raised on clasical music concerts or opera, but I agree with what you say. I always like to dress up a bit -- not full fancy dress, but a nice skirt/top or dress -- when I go to the theatre because I want to, and I think it shows respect. I do like to be comfortable too, but most of my nice clothes are pretty comfortable.

Gee, DP, I'm so very sorry but when I gained all the weight I got rid of all my lovely small sized clothes. I never would have guessed that I would be back down to size 6/8.
But if I still had it, I would have wore it. Just for you. Just because you asked. I hope your not disappointed with what I do wear.
