Maybe this is more appropriate for the OT board, but...
I pick the damndest times to move, y'know? I came to Canada (Toronto, actually) just before Canada sailed into a recession, I moved to Calgary just before the economy here went into a slight tailspin, and now I'm moving back to the states just before the second coronation of George Junior.
At least on this one, I can say I called it right: Junior sneaked by in the popular vote. I'm going to assume for the moment that there were no voting irregularities (silly me!), despite the fact that the exit polls dont match the numbers, but what they hey, I'll give Junior the benefit of the doubt. The bigger question is: will he look at those numbers and see what they mean?
According to CNN, folks voting for Kerry had three big issues on their minds: the economy, healthcare, and Iraq. Terrorism was somewhere around number 5. Folks voting for Bush were most concerned about "moral values" and Iraq -- again, terrorism was down the list. Will George have the smarts to realize there's a lot of anger out there about his failed policy in Iraq? Probably not. Will he see the concerns people have over healthcare? Probably not. All he will see is, "Hey, I won! I got me a Republican Congress! It's show time, folks!"
And now we can look forward to even more tax cuts, despite a massive deficit that no one's figured out how to pay for. We can see Alaska's conservation program gutted in favour of oil development. We'll see the return to the Gay Marriage Amendment. Chances are real good we'll see Social Security turned into a privatized corporation. And that's just for starters.
For myself, I cannot bring myself to support this guy, not after what he inflicted on this country for four years. Unless he can demonstrate that he's actually aware of what folks out there think of his cavalier attitude towards the problems facing this country, I cannot -- in good conscience -- support this maroon.
All you folks who supported Bush? You got what you wished for -- party down, dudes. Just remember what the Chinese say about that.

"fallin'..I'm fallin' fast again."
This is truly a black day for this country.

I like Do You Hear The People Sing.
Which is saying a lot cuase I F***ing HATE Les Mis! Fitting I suppose.
I must admit though, I cannot bring myself to sing. I'm so depressed. What is everyone else doing to function today? I seriously just wanna go home and cry.
It makes me feel a lot less crazy that other people are pretty upset too, so...yay for a sense of community.
Damn you, GW. I shake my fist at you!
As for the rest of the GW supportin' America...I shake my head.
