D2, I read closely. You suggested that reviews of the original production are no longer pertinent. I said that they are, given that Rich was critiquing the writing (at least where I quoted) rather than performances or physical production.

Your statement "the two productions are entirely different animals" doesn't hold water, unless (as I pointed out) they have totally re-written the book, lyrics, and music, all of which are of terribly poor quality.

There are some who will praise their favorite performers in a reading of the phone book. And there are those who prefer a marriage of good material and good performance.

Isn't Ben Brantley of the New York Times in London reviewing shows there? Is he going to see Aspects of Love?

The show has moments, since the Australian production in Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney hated it, but in Melbourne smaller 800 seat theatre and the show was a whole new beast. Webber's problem was back in the 80's and the 90's was everything was overblown.

Sunset Blvd suffered the same fate.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Everything at the Menier is a "scaledown" because it is a small space. Whether or not their productions transfer to larger spaces is up to producers.

This will come to Broadway sometime around the time of that CARRIE revival.

Still, I'm loving how posters are using the terms "animal" and "beast" to describe this dried-out butt nugget.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali
