I just saw a picture of the movie poster for "The Alamo" and there's Patrick Wilson's name right there as one of the stars.
Pretty darned impressive! He such a talented guy to be able to do both stage and film.
From what everyone says he's a great person, too, so I wish him the best. Good luck, Patrick!

As devoted as I am to TSMrW, I will NOT be seeing THE ALAMO. After all, it IS a movie and I HATE MOVIES!!!!!!!!!

Dollypop, I hope you will forgive my weakness for Patrick Wilson It will draw me into a dank, dark movie theatre with stale, oversalted, over-priced popcorn. I'm only human...and he's well..."Patrick!"
I know it is wrong...but I can't help myself. I'll see him in "The Alamo" and in POTO in December.
Light a candle for me...and I promise to "repent" when he comes back to Broadway and come see him "in person." LOL!

broadwayguy2- Now I know why you're broadwayguy2 cause Patrick Wilson is the original broadwayguy. HAHA
Does Patrick have a big role in the film? The previews looked very rah-rah America go war if its good for the country love it or leave it right-wing ass kissing stuff. Maybe if Patrick gets nekkid.......someone should tell Bertolucci to cast Patrick in his next flick.
Wait a minute...DP...you aren't going to see this movie? It is TSMrW!!!! I mean...I know movies annoy you...but you wouldn't even go for TSMrW?

watch it Phantom. LOL. Play nice. lol
I'm so excited for this! I finally saw the trailer the other day.
"Does Patrick have a big role in the film?"
He is Colonel William Travis - who I believe was the first to die during the battle (I'm not ruining anything - it's history). I'm assuming that's a pretty big role. Plus beacon1 says his name was on the poster next to the other big stars.
yay patrick!!

Major role for Patrick. Colonel Travis is the one who gives the "line in the sand" speech to the Defenders. It's quite a moving piece. Col Travis, Jim Bowie, and Davy Crockett were key leaders of the Alamo Defenders. If you see the teasers and trailers (www.thealamofilm.com)you'll see he has a pivotal role.
He's gonna do us proud!
The Alamo premieres in San Antonio on March 27th and then has wide-release on April 9th.
And, don't forget he's Raoul in POTO film which is being released in December. Insider reports are that he is "stunning".

Sorry Piglet, but my absolute contempt of the movie industry will keep me from seeing TSMrW sell-out to the purile tastes of multiplexes and mass consumption. I mean it when I say I HATE MOVIES!!!!!!
I will, however, be driving doen to DC to see CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF with my beloved STAGE ACTOR!
MOVIES DISGUST ME!
His film "career" never ceases to baffle me.

Dollypop.
Oh my gosh! I didn't realize you had such strong feelings against movies. How many "Our Fathers" and "Hail Marys" should I do?
and, doesn't Al Dente like TSMrW???? Why on earth not?

Ah Elphie...truer words were never spoken.
Doolypoop, what was the last movie that you saw? I am just curious. I am not a big fan of movies either but there are a few a year that I quite enjoy.

I do know that there is a scene that Patrick says was shot two ways. One with shirt on, one with it off. It is a scene where Col Travis wakes up along side a Mexican Prostitute (apparently that was one of Travis' "hobbies"...)and he puts out the light. The trailer shows with shirt on...but perhaps the film will include with shirt off...
TSMrW apparently has quite a reputation for being in a state of "undress" at one point or another on stage and screen?

Al Dente,
What's wrong with Patrick having a movie career? He wowed folks on stage...on both coast and you saw "Angels in America", didn't you?

Actually the last movie I saw was something called "Signs" with Mel Gibson. It was on August 15, 2002. I was in the city to see TSMrW in OKLAHOMA (yet again) and it was unbearably hot and humid. I was passing a movie theater and realized it woould be much cooler inside. I paid my admission snd almost vomited from the smell of popcorn. I figured out the plot of the film in the first 15 minutes (I knew those half-filled glasses of water all over the place would result in a WIZARD OF OZ meltdown) and promptly fell asleep.
OKLAHOMA! was not a perfect production, but it was better than the rancid experience of sitting through a movie.
I HATE MOVIES. I WISH THEY'D STOP MAKING THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So...Dollypop...let me get this right...you "hate movies" but you are a fan of "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy;" insidious reality television programming??? Ahem...

If you do like some television...did you like "Angels in America"? That was Patrick doing a film version of a stage role. (I loved it!)

Yes, I did see Wilson in Angels and have already expressed my "warm and fuzzy" feelings for him extensively, on a much older thread.

I detect a note of sarcasm here regarding Patrick Wilson and his acting abilitiy?
