Broadway In Boston

Anyone know when the new season gets announced?

re: Broadway In Boston

Usually the season is announced around early to mid-April.

re: Broadway In Boston

Last year it wasn't announced until the beginning of May.

Bump.

For what it's worth, here are the six shows that will play in Providence in 2009/10: Young Frankenstein, Avenue Q, Wicked, Xanadu, 101 Dalmations and Jersey Boys.

Where'd you get the Providence season?

re: Broadway In Boston

Cool. I see that BWW has run a story on it, as well. That's a good season.

re: Broadway In Boston

Last year it was mentioned around this time. Hopefully, they will mention it soon. The company in Boston who markets the Broadway tours was just busy with Spring Awakening stuff, so hopefully they will get on the new season soon.

No, but really...get it together, BAA-Boston! Just tell us your season!

re: Broadway In Boston

I just called the office. The season won't be announced until June. Whaaaat.

re: Broadway In Boston

Word on the street is the new season will be announced June 15.

re: Broadway In Boston

The Lion King will make a return visit to The Opera House for 5 weeks, from Feb. 16 - Mar. 21, 2010, as part of the 09/10 season.

Other repeats will include Avenue Q in Nov. and Mamma Mia! in Dec.

re: Broadway In Boston

Will LION KING, as I'm sure Q and MIA are, will be a season "extra," not a subscription show?

re: Broadway In Boston

Is there going to be a gala again this year? I'd like to go if there is, it was fun.

re: Broadway In Boston

If by gala you mean a season announcement event, yes. It's being held at 5 p.m. on June 15 at the Colonial.

re: Broadway In Boston

That's what I meant. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to go this year because I have finals the next day.

re: Broadway In Boston

My guess is that Young Frankenstein will play the Opera House...

Is Phantom coming this season? I'm sure it would be a 4-5 week run rather than several months, since last time it didn't sell as well as hoped (they played March-May 2005, and tried going into June, but ended up cancelling those extra two weeks).

I'd be surprised if they brought PHANTOM back so soon. Wasn't it just there a year or two ago?
#21

re: Broadway In Boston

No. Last time it was in Boston was March-May 2005... So 5 seasons ago. That's a good amount of time if they brought it back.

re: Broadway In Boston

I didn't know it had been that long, thanks! :) Me, I love the show and my family in NH would race to Boston to see it anytime it were to come in.

re: Broadway In Boston

Ugh...the announcement is long overdue.

re: Broadway In Boston

Personally, I think Broadway Across America has really ruined things for the touring market in Boston... They're so not on top of their game.

re: Broadway In Boston

Not very exciting, in my book. The only thing my family will want to see is MAMMA MIA, and IN THE HEIGHTS....

Why doesn't the Citi Center announce a "season" instead of just putting shows up a few months in advance?
