re: Broadway Mystery Actor

How can they change information and say it's not fiction? Last I checked, when a person made up/changed details a story, it WAS fiction.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

It's the most real thing I've read.

Well that's not the Shubert's stage door so, unless they put a 'wrong' picture there, it's nobody from SPAMALOT.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

I don't think they would put the 'right' picture there... that would make it far too obvious.

Damn it! I should have just let this thread alone. But no, I let curiosity get the better of me!

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

You know... I was just thinking: wouldn't it be cool if it *were* a solvable puzzle? Like each month or each week a different actor would write a column, not flat out saying who he or she is but dropping clues (things like the wig and the opening monologue...) and then people oculd submit guesses. Or even just have fun arguing over guesses on the BWW message board. And then after how ever many so articles that actor wants to write, their identity is revealed.

I don't know - I just feel if they're making such a big deal about keeping this guy's identity a secret they should say more than where they eat lunch. An anonymous column reviewing a particular show or giving an opinion about something (like Disney musicals, musicals based on movies... things like that) I could understand, but this... it seems like a new way to 'sell' their normal 'Firt Person' column. 'If we say this is by ANONYMOUS instead of Marc Kudisch, more people will read it!' That sort of thing.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

It was Suzanne Somers. They just found the column in a drawer last week.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

That's exactly how I feel, lamentingenvelope: we've read a lot of what Anonymous wrote about in previous First Person columns, and it has exactly the same feel! The folks at broadway.com know that all the little hints are going to drive readers crazy, though, which is the fabulous gimmick in this whole operation. As long as he/she is not saying anything incriminating, I don't see the point of anonymity, unless a revelation of identity would result in a huge invasion of privacy...

But chances are I'll pop over every so often to see what Anonymous is up to.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

I would do it just to have fun reading the BWW message board and all of the things people said about it.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

Whoever it is, he is very entertaining. re: Broadway Mystery Actor I love the ABCs of Broadway.

My first thought was someone from Spamalot or The Producers. Not sure why, I guess because I would expect the guys from those shows to be pretty funny and clever.

And they can't expect us not to guess; that's what makes it so much fun!

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

I don't think it's anonymous so that people will guess (although it's fun). I think it's anonymous to show that this is how any broadway actor would feel on a two show Wednesday.

re: Broadway Mystery Actor

I have an image burned in my brain of twenty actors sitting under the fluorescent lights, staring straight ahead miserably, and chewing mouthfuls of tepid baked potatoes in perfect unison. The only thing missing is the heavy, shirtless man drumming a tom-tom, chanting, "Chew! Chew!"
