I took this tour last week when Mom was in town and had so much fun! The guide was an incredibly talented fellow who seemed to know everything about the whole history of Broadway. On top of that he had a wicked sense of humor, dishing all the dirt on stars modern and from the past. It's a two hour walking tour that starts from the heart of Times Square at the information center across from TKTS, and winds through the streets west of Broadway from 48th street to 44th streets, with access into two landmarked theatres. Being inside a theatre when no one else is really is a cool experience, I found myself noticing the small details I never notice when I go to see shows. Plus the guides explanations on how a show is put together really clarified some things for me. I would highly recommend it and will take anyone else who comes to visit and has even the slightest interest in theatre

We went into the Walter Kerr, where Doubt is playing, and the St. James, where the Producers plays. Very different spaces, and both very beautiful.

Grace: I just gave a quarter to a homeless man. I think it was Johnny Depp.

I didn't think the tour was all that great. I already knew MOST of the information that was given, but I guess going into a theatre when only a few people are there is kinda cool.

When I went into the Al Hirschfeld (sp?) theatre and St. James theatre, all we did was just sit in any seat in the orchestra while the tour guide gave some history on the shows that played there and the theatre architecture.

capnpat, did you get a free poster too?

So is THIS the walking tour I keep randomly tripping over in the alley under the Marquis and in Shubert Alley?
