THE PRODUCERS and 42nd STREET, are the two musicals which opened on Broadway during the the 2000/2001 seasson. How many more musicals, revivals and how many revues opened on Broadway that same season but closed prior to 7/4/2003? Bonus if you can name them.

A) 6 more Musicals, 2 more Revivals, 1 Revue
B) 7 more Musicals, 3 more Revivals, 2 Revues
C) 8 more Musicals, 2 more Revivals, 1 Revnue
D) 6 more Musicals, 4 more Revivals, 1 Revue

Well, depending on how one categorizes shows like BLAST! and GEORGE GERSHWIN ALONE, this is what I come up with:
*additional musicals: The Full Monty, Sessuical, Jane Eyre, A Class Act, Tom Sawyer (5)
*additional revivals: Rocky Horror Show, Follies, Bells Are Ringing (3)
*revues: Blast!, George Gershwin Alone (2)

In any case, I seem to be missing a musical or two. I'm stumped!

Well Chris, You are correct, somewhat. "A" is the answer of record, but needs to be clarified.

There were indeed 7 musicals new to Broadway in the 2000/2001 sesason. All the ones listed are correct however THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW did not open on Broadway prior to this season but did previously play off-Broadway. So it is not technically a revival but is instead a "new" musical. You're on point with the Revivals: FOLLIES and BELLS ARE RINGING, in addition to 42nd STREET. As for the Revues, we'll have to check that point out. I didn't count the Gershwin show, did it officially open in a B'way house? I recall the show but not positive it classified as a "Broadway" show. I can of course be corrected.

Good job. Let me know the details you might have.

Actually, ChrisLovesShows is right.

The Rocky Horror Show was a revival. A Broadway production played for 45 performances at the Belasco Theatre in 1975.

I stand corrected on ROCKY....but what of the Gershwin show?

Magruder, always the last word. But why didn't you try the puzzler? lol

Cheers!

George Gershwin Alone did indeed play a Broadway theatre--The Helen Hayes--that season. However, ibdb.com classifies it as a "Play, with music."

The 1 Revue you had in mind, was that Blast?

Chris,

Yes, the one revue was BLAST.

Thank you for helping to clarify that the Gershwin Show was not classified as a musical nor a revue.
