Here's a little puzzler...
connect Paul Newman to Mary Martin, or vice versa.

It's been nearly 14 hours now since I posted this Puzzler and no one has made an attempt yet. I'm surprised.
Everyone is aware the Paul Newman is a non-musical actor who started on the stage in NYC, migrating to film. You know that Mary Martin was at one time one of the reigning musical performers and who also starred on Broadway, with very litle Hollywood film exposure.
These two actors are connected by 4 degrees of separation.
Can you identify the degrees?

OK, like the Kevin Bacon game, right? There are probably several ways to do it, but this is what I came up with:
Mary Martin appeared in NEW YORK TOWN (1941) with Robert Preston. Robert Preston and Shelly Winters both appeared in S.O.B. (1981), and Winters and Paul Newman appeared in 1966’s HARPER.

That's pretty good Chris...
I was thinking this way.
Newman starrred in CAT on film written by Tennessee who cast Barbara BelGeddes as the original Maggie, who went on to star on "Dallas" on TV as Larry Hagman's mother, who's natural is of course Mary Martin.
If it had been Ben Gazzara (original Brick) opposite BelGeddes, etc.

Which of course connects Howard to Mary Martin, and Jane Powell and Esther Williams to Mary Martin.
