They caused a sensation when their work first played on Broadway in 1879. They are represented today in a Tony winning musical currently on the boards.

Who? What?

...with the representation being "The Speed Test" from Thoroughly Modern Millie which in its former life was know as "My Eyes Are Fully Open" from Ruddigore.

Oh, you are right, Chris. I was thinking of them being characters or something based on one of their works. But you are so right. What a team, eh? (I mean the two of us as well as G&S).

PEACE.

I'll guess: was it Verdi and his partner in AIDA. If it played on Broadway it was probably at Hammerstein's or another opera house.

Chris, you're just too bright.

G&S it is. Much as I love their work, I won't go see TMM. Everything I'm exposed to about that show I find annoying. Before you folks slap me, please know I saw the movie more than 10 times when it first came out. Something about this show is just annoying.

Yours for a much better Broadway!

i can understand why you would think TMM is annoying after knowing the movie so long. that's one of the musical movies i've grown up on, it was my first tap song when i was 7! don't get me wrong, i LOVE both millies, i'm just saying i could understand. :)

Sueleen really got the answer! I just filled in the blank.

"Suleen, Suleen, Sueleen, SUE-LEEEENNN, I'm beggin' of you please don't take my man.
"Suleen, Suleen, Sueleen, SUE-LEEEENNN, please don't take him just because you can."
