I was wondering how many shows have been preserved on tape/film. I know there's Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Jeykll & Hyde. What are some others AND are they available? (I apologize if this has been asked before)

You can get Sondheim's Passion on DVD with the OBC
Also, there's a filmed stage production of Cats.
Les Miz has the 10th Anniversary concert... does that count? it has clips throughout...

The New York City Opera production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC was aired live on PBS. I'm not sure of the exact year. I think it was around 1990. Paul Gemignani conducted and it starred Sally Ann Howes as Desiree,George Lee Andews as Frederik, Regina Resnik as Madame Armfeldt and Maureen Moore as Charlotte. It was lovely. I don't know if its on DVD. Worth looking into.
Just wanted to make sure I was clear. I'm talking about shows that were actually filmed/taped while they were being performed on stage. Not shows that were made into films. Or in the case of Victor/Victoria, films that were made into shows. Thanks...:)

There is a recording of the stage show of Victor/Victoria available on DVD.
And to be technical-its was the San Fransisco Symphany Orchestra that is on the Sweeney Concert DVD (Not the NY Philharmonic)
The tour of Pippin is available on DVD starring Ben Vereen
There is also a recording of Pirates of Penzanze with Kevin Kline
Thanks for the correction, Scottie.
As much as I love Sweeney, for some damn reason I always get confused with those two professional recordings. SF Orchestra on DVD and NY Philharmonic on CD.
Same reason I got "brussel sprouts" and "tater tots" mixed up as a child... not the food, just the name, for some bizarre reason.

Pippin is another one.
Victor/Victoria is tapped from the stage with Julie Andrews, Tony Roberts, and Rachel York
Crazy for You aired on PBS in 1998 or 2000, around there. But it was never commercially released.
There's a stage version of Our Town on video. Purlie, Sophisticated Ladies, Tin Types, both Peter Pan's (Cathy Rigby and Mary Martin), Elain Stritch at Liberty.
Caroline, or Change was filmed by HBO but wasn't shown or released as of yet.
When was there a Victor/Victoria featuring the stage cast on video?
OOO.... I'd love to get to see Caroline or Change! I hope they actually decide to air it someday.
The Oklahoma version with Hugh Jackman is FANTASTIC
yeah! ...

Not a show, but Broadway related.
The cast recording session for "Company" was recorded. It provides interesting insight but is quite dull at times.
Well, I had no idea that the stage version of Victor/Victoria was on DVD! I stand corrected! Thanks everyone for all your input. NOW...to start finding all these gems.
Kind of a Bway show on tape: Jesus Christ Superstar was filmed with Glenn Carter at Pinewood Studios and put on tape; I actually like it better than the movie.
The Victor/Victoria was taped (as soooo many shows are) for Japanese TV and never see the light of day here. That one they did release and it is very good!
