Does anyone know where I can find a list of all the Broadway shows that have recouped their initial financial investments? Compared to all the shows there are, its a rather short list. I seem to vaguely remember seeing one somewhere online once, but can't seem to retrace my steps to get to it again. Thanks for your help!

But, mind you, it's not entirely accurate. Read the rest of the thread to see why.

I found a book at the library several years ago that had a great appendix at the back that listed every musical season by season from 1945-46 to 1989-90 giving opening date, theatre, number of performances, and hit/flop status. I photocopied the chart but (foolishly) neglected to get the name of the book or author. I believe it was called THE BUSINESS IF BROADWAY. Anyhow, it provides a good reference for all the pre-1990 shows and I have the VARIETY issues to cover the years since. (Although, as Margo has advised in his posts, Variety's credibility may be on the line after this season.)

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

The Best Plays series has reprinted the Variety Hit/Flop lists in every volume for many decades, so if anyone is ever curious about or needs that info about a given show or show(s) from the past, then just check those.
