Broadway Speech!! help please

hello
in my school we are required to do a speech on front of our class, and i wanted to do someting on broadway, or theatre related. is there any major issues regarding theatre or broadway thats current. or anything that you think would make a good speech? theres pretty much no limits to this..sooo,

In 9th grade I did a 15 page report on the progession and advancement of the homosexual on Broadway and in America.

How about discussing why the arts are critical to society and, thus, deserve government support. Many people would argue that something should not be financed by taxpayers just because there aren't enough people willing to pay for it on their own. Others would argue that the taxpayers finance many things that are deemed important to society (e.g. public transportation).

You might extend this idea to talk about the importance of keeping quality arts programs in schools.

When I did a speech on Broadway, I explained like what it was and all of the basic stuff, but the main points to my speech were how shows represented culture and things like that. Eg. Rent and the AIDS crisis, Miss Saigon as the Vietnam War..etc. I hope this helps. If not, I hope you find some good stuff for your speech.
