Hi all, I was watching "Broadway The American musical" and Does anyone besides me think it needs a sequel? "Broadway The Golden age has another one coming so why can't Broadway the American musical? It's a good documentary

Yes. So much has happened since Wicked in my opinion (really only a little of BIG note, but we still have shows like N2N, Mormon, and In the Heights that made impacts in their own ways). Maybe just another episode or chapter or what ever they called them since they are chronological.
Not needed yet. The point of that documentary was to show audiences how the American musical was birthed and evolved from vaudeville all the way to WICKED. The art form has grown since 2004, but I'm not certain that the American musical has completed its next step on the evolution chart. Let's let history play out more so we can see what the effects of the new works over the last 10 years has had on the art form.

I agree with you, Wonder who'll narrate it, also what will it will be called, & what musical should it start with.
I never saw the PBS special, but I own the accompanying coffee table book. It's one of my favorites, so many full-color photos and history and analysis! I do think it's a bit too soon for a "sequel" though.
I nominate Victoria Clark to narrate.
Actually, I think it would be interesting if they could do an installment every 5 or 10 years or so, considering how many shows may open and close in one year, and how much theatre can change in a short period of time.

Something akin to Ken Burns' Baseball documentaries would be cool but 5 years is probably too short of a time span as they'll only focus on major events.
