Broadway: The American Musical. Thursday should be good. It will be all the new/modern shows.

To be honest, the last show (the 90s and beyond) is the worst out of the series, in my opinion (except for one thing that I have already said like 50 times so I will leave it alone. re: Broadway on Broadway and PBS )

i agree with spiderdj.

they really needed to spend less time on certain musicals and touch on more shows. just to name one problem.

re: Broadway on Broadway and PBS

Like I said before, I understand them spending time on Sondheim, because.....well....he's Sondheim, but not as long as they did. And they spent WAY too much time on Wicked since there is a special feature "making of" about it. And even more time on the Producers. I was like, ok....I get it......move on. In the ones leading up to the 90's they spent a great deal on how the times were changing in the world and it affected broadway and showed like a History thing behind it. With the 90's and forward, they just said, this is this and it was over. I mean they did a GREAT segment on Jonathan Larson, but that was about it that made me go "wow."

You can buy the DVD's on Amazon as well, they're cheaper on there. The one's on PBS support it though so that's nice.

It would really nice is everyone would save their comments and stop giving away what's in the special until the show has completed its run on PBS. Talk about SPOILERS!

And that would be a good thing... why???

re: Broadway on Broadway and PBS

why does the DVD menu have a big picture of Marissa and Harvey but the show doesn't cover Hairspray at all? Nothing in the extras either.
It is weird how Michael Kantor decided which shows to focus on, he teaches my friend at NYU and I'll ask about this.
