I know I'm in the minority, but I LOVE this movie! Watched it two days in a row! When I talked to Veanne Cox at the Sam Harris concert, she told me that they'd cut the movie to shreds (obvious from its under 90 minute running length) including a song she sang. re: Broadway stars abound in 'Marci X'

I really enjoyed it...and found Sherie to be hilarious!!!
Loved Kudrow's rap song...

Back when this mvie was filmed...in 2001, I used to serve one of the dancers. She came into my rest. a lot while they were filming, and told me all about the film. It took two years for them to release it.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Semi-threadjack. Saw Kinsey the other day and noted:

Liam Neeson
Laura Linney
John Lithgow
Tim Curry
Lynn Redgrave
David Harbour (Virginia Woolf)
Heather Goldenhersh (Doubt) - same speaking voice as Sister James which I thought was interesting.
Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America)
Dagmara Dominczyk (Violet Hour)
Kate Reinders (Gypsy)

there are probably more that I didn't recognize...

That's how she speaks.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Yes. I had thought it was part of the accent she was giving Sister James. Now I know that's not true.

Anyone ever see "Life With Mikey"? There are more Broadway cameos than any other movie. Cameos that include Will Finn, and pretty much the whole original cast of Falsettos, Mandy Patinkin, Wendy Wasserstein, Christine Baranski, etc.
It was a James LaPine film, and so many Broadway references, including an amazing rendition of "Lullabye of Broadway" by the cutest little girl.

I thought it was very striking how many people were really in this movie... I was really surprised that they chose so many Broadway stars for this movie. I saw the list, and I was astonished in a good way and I hope more Broadway fans realize it and watch the movie

My favorite thing is to tell people who were the movie, that i loved them in it. 99% say "ooo and laugh" and make a funny face, i once got a " you wasted your time seeing that"- from a certain formmer hairspray chorus boy

Bumping this thread because I love Marci X!

I remeber it bebing in a lot of Playbill bios "and in the upcoming major motion picture Marci X." Haha. And now most people that were in it cringe when it's mentioned to them.

It's very campy and funny and very takes itself seriously. I was expecting it to be the worst movie ever form the way it was spoken of. Turns out it's actually enjoyable!
