Now, If this thing is on DVD I MUST find a copy, Has ANYONE out there seen it and, if so, any exceptional content?
This is a GREAT documentary that everyone on this board should own. It is available on DVD (got mine thru amazon.com) and at this time, there are two sequels planned.
Are there any good clips from some shows or is strictly interviews and etc...
there are some GREAT clips from both musicals and straight theatre. I watch this ALL THE TIME. When are the sequels supposed to come out? I thought the "Next Generation" was supposed to be out at the end of this year, but I haven't heard anything about it.
I LOVE bway: the golden age
both the interviews and (very rare) clips are amazing. definately worth owning
Brilliant documentary.
Great stories, great people, great photos and great footage.
Did I mention it was great?
Brilliant film. I hope the sequel happens.
I saw this at the Anjelika--and of course, cried and laughed alot. And Stritchie has the last word; doesn't she always?

I also think it is a great film. According to the website a sequel will be coming out in 2006. www.broadwaythemovie.com is the website I think.
I saw this at the theater as well - all it did was depress me with the realization that I was born about 40 years too late.
There are clips from the new one on the DVD.
Stritch should always have the last word.
You can rent this DVD from the Blockbuster OnLine service. Mine is on its way to me. I ordered it not knowing what it was and now I'm excited to get it!
It's a shame people have never heard of this. A year ago it was all we could talk about here on BroadwayWorld.com.
It is an EXTREMELY GOOD documentary that had a release in LA/NY and a select few other cities.
There are two sequels in the works:
1) BROADWAY - MORE OF THE GOLDEN AGE
2) BROADWAY - THE NEXT GENERATION

I wouldn't worry about renting it. Go ahead and buy it via Amazon.com. You won't be sorry. When I bought it, I watched it twice in a row - I HAD to see it again. And the bonus features - the HOURS worth of bonus features - are BRILLIANT!
I just watched the clips and am getting the DVD, I had just come across it and had never heard a thing about it, I hope he does the follow ups too, Sounds great! Thanks!
BUY it you wont regret...
This isn't a film you want to rent - it's definitely a keeper. I pop it in and watch it whenever I'm in the mood to travel back to the golden age - at least in my mind. I can't count the number of times I've watched it. It's the best film on Broadway I've ever seen.
Yay for Scout in the avatar!
I watch it whenever I'm in the "mood" too. This and the BROADWAY - THE AMERICAN MUSICAL documentary but that's more of a historical series. GOLDEN AGE is more opinionated.
Wonderful Documentary. I loved the glimpes of LANSBURY in MAME, and the sections on Kim Stanley and Laurette Taylor are inspirations.
