"It's finally happened! After forty years of dark-souled complexity, Stephen Sondheim has finally written a bright, cheerful, and (dare I say it?) hummable score!"

I'm sorry. Is this supposed to mean that none of his other music is hummable, bright or cheerful? Have you heard the music in Merrily We Roll Along? And as far as "hummable"...please. Sondheim is a God...it's that simple. Nothing he can do is wrong. Even "Passion" which a lot of people say is no good is far more brilliant than anything on Broadway right now.

Saw Bounce last night. It had some charm and wit and the leads were very good, but, overall, it was a weak show. Little character development, unimpressive sets and way too many curse words (and I say this as someone who swears a lot - - too much, I'm sorry to say). The thing is, in the show you noticed, sharply, every time a curse word was used. And it would seem that if it's really appropriate to the dialogue and the characters, it wouldn't jar you like it did. I think this show has potential, but it needs more punch.
