re: Brooklyn The Musical

from an unbiased point of view, its not the strongest thing on 45th street. its just as bad as watching american idol, so wait till january and save $100.

re: Brooklyn The Musical

uh-oh.

I see you've joined today, runner, so let me say welcome! But let me warn you--there are those on this board who get touchy around posts concerning Wicked/Brooklyn/Idina Menzel. Not necessarily because they are bad shows, but because there are 934857645837485884837 posts about them every day. Just a heads up so that you start off here happily :).

In response to your question, I haven't seen it yet so I don't really know. Apparently the voices in it are spectacular, but the story and music is somewhat lacking.

Runner... The story line isnt very good, but the performers are FANTASTIC. I think it is worth going just to see them. There are discounts available, so I would go while those are still available. Also, Brooklyn is up on TKTS. In my opinion, the 5 people on stage in this show, are the best on broadway. They are very talented.

Get the CD, it is like 75% of the show and decide for yourself whether you like it or not...personally I loved it, I thought it was extremely creative, with great music, and great talent! The lyrics can be strange at times, but still I think it was a enjoyable show!

BUT you should see for yourself!

runner, there is a great feature on this board called Search. It will allow you read almost EVERY opinion out there on Brooklyn and believe me there are many.

re: Brooklyn The Musical

If you like belting, go see it.

If you like impressive music and at least mediocre plots, don't.

I've found that "young" people (and I certainly don't mean to generalize) who are just getting into musical theatre enjoy it a lot. It's a fun show, but there are better things to see.

re: Brooklyn The Musical

I thought it had beautiful music.

It wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but it was certainly worth spending an hour and a half for.

EXACTLY. If it wasn't for the performers, I don't thinkit would be worth the $ for tickets. No question in my mind that the show has gotten a lot of attention for the performers (Especially Eden and Ramona but all 5 cast members are top notch) rather than the storyline.
There are a few funny non-musical moments but as one of my friends commented after the show, there were moments when she thought "can you just skip all this talking and start singing again?". Def. get the CD and see how you like it.
