As a fan - beyond the stage - here's the good word:
Sick Bastard, the new musical with score penned by the Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby, will get a private industry reading the week of June 15. The reading will be directed by Kathleen Marshall.
Based on an original concept and story by Mr. Hornsby, the musical centers around the troubles created when a stranger arrives in a small Virginia town. As has been noted, the score is comprised of all original songs, and is not a Horsnby jukebox musical. The accompanying libretto was written by Clay McLeod Chapman, with additional lyrics by Chip DeMatteo.
The cast for the forthcoming reading will feature Will Swenson, Sarah Uriarte Berry, John Cullum, Shuler Hensley, John Conlee, Anastasia Barzee, Tracee Beazer, Louis Hobson, Darius DeHaas, Matthew Saldivar, Brynn Williams, Riley Costello and Bubba Weiler.
