Buddy Hackett, Katharine Hepburn ....

How many more? It seems like all the old stars are dying at one time. That's sad that they're all going now. Who has it been this year? And who's next? Buddy Hackett, Katharine Hepburn ....

Well look at the bright things that have happened this month -- gay marriage in Canada, the Supreme Court ruling, Strom biting the dust.........

All these deaths are sooo sad though.

re: Buddy Hackett, Katharine Hepburn ....

I know this is kind of a morbid thing to talk about, but whenever great entertainers pass on I have noticed a trend. It always seems to be in groups of three. most recently being Gregory Peck, Katharine Hepburn, and Buddy Hackett. I don't know if i'm thinking WAY to into this, but it's just an observation.

I wasn't trying to be morbid. If I came across that way, I have to apologize. I was just thinking that all of these deaths are very sad.

Old Stars

That's the problem...they're OLD! Kate was 96. A good span of life, I think. It is always sad when someone we admire dies, but everyone has to die sometime. At least these three led long and productive lives. We needn't be sad for them, but are sad for us, that there will be no more performances to treasure. Of course that was true anyway, but it is somehow comforting when they are still alive; we don't have to face that we will see no more of them. All of these passings remind us of how far we are from our own "Golden Age".

Deannaizme,
I'm sorry if it came across that I thought what YOU said was morbid. I didn't, I thought what I was talking about seemed kinda morbid. The ' in threes' thing. Sorry for the confusion, don't think I was trying to be mean or anything.

re: Buddy Hackett, Katharine Hepburn ....

Truthfully, I am upset because we have lost treasures...my family has lost a friend in Buddy Hackett...but my dad has gained another friend up in heaven. My theory is that heaven just got a little bit brighter! I used to think that the stars were the souls of every living creature that passed on (it helped me when my dad died!)...so if you happen to look up into the sky and you see some stars...be rest assured that with the addition of the 3 very special people who have recently died, heaven must be a happenin' place right about now!

JMHO!

You've noticed that trend of deaths happening in threes Seymour? Wow. I've noticed a trend where awards are given out for achievements on Broadway every June.

I am so sad that Buddy Hackett died. He has always been famous to to me since I first saw the Music Man movie when I was very little and I saw him on a plane ride from Atlanta to L.A when I was 8. I'll always remember him as Marcellus Washburn in The Music Man, singing the famous "Shipoopi!" song! re: re: re: Buddy Hackett, Katharine Hepburn ....
