I'm eager to hear this new number, "Momma's Turn," they speak of.

I also hope Laura knows that she was exposed to dozens of homosexuals, both on-stage and off, for a good three hours. I hope she went right home and read her Bible for six hours as penance.

It says she was there for a Fashion Week so she must not have a problem with homosexuals.

If only we loved ourselves, we wouldn't care about what Laura Bush thought of us!!! Bt the way.... Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act (the most anti-gay legislation ever passed in recent history)

To sum of all things

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

If you want acceptance , you must practice it . You are being as intolerant by painting everyone who goes to church with the same broad brush. Remember Capt Kangaroo ( Bob Keeshan ) lived & grew up ,attended Catholic School & went to church in my parish. How did he fall through the cracks? He does not fit the picture of all Christians & Catholics in particular that you want to paint. How did he , a Catholic , turn out OK & warrant your approval ? Kind of puts a hole in your arguement that all Catholic ( especially those vile church goers) are all ogres.

To Musical Comedy Man

Not only did Clinton sign that legislation but the Dems current poster boy Kerry is against gay marriage . He stradles both sides of the fence. As loathsome as people may find it, Bush stands with his convictions . Kerry will not or really does not believe in gay marriage. If the latter is the case, how could anyone on this board vote for him if he takes that position. Answer is simple -the vitriolic & paranoic hatred of Bush trumps all other explanations. I am sitting this race out. I might actually have voted for Lieberman if he was running as he was the only candidate who did not put his head in the sand on terrorism. Other than that & some of the tax cuts, I have disagreed with every thing else Bush had done & could not vote for him as the lesser of 2 evils. I did that in the NYC mayoral election & I got Bloomburg. Since I cannot vote for Bush & none of the remaining Dems, I will not vote this time around

"God Told Me to Hate You" bumper stickers available now at BettyBowers.com.

Along with "Protect the Sanctity of Divorce from Gays" stickers.

Roxy, we've been over this before. You act as if the people who criticize the appointed, AWOL from the national guard, Alfred E. Newman-looking, "newk-you-ler"-pronouncing, grown up chimp baby from the third Planet of the Apes movie who is YOUR president thought Clinton was God. The way people like you revere the zombie that was Reagan. But no. Many of us in the other thread have told you many times how much we hated his DOMA-signing, Don't Ask Don't Telling butt.

But it doesn't register. Because you don't Read and Learn.

Personally, gay marriage has never been my issue. But the fact is, I will vote for ANYBODY who will beat Bush. And if the election were held today, that would be Kerry, handily. And a President Kerry would not support an amendment to the consitution keeping rights away from a group of people. "Newk-you-lerr" would. Which is why I could vote Kerry without batting an eye.

Just so you know.

You know what? ENOUGH about the "it's the church going ones that piss me off" attitude. I'm sick of hearing this characterization. I'll go as far as calling it a bigotry comment and offensive to true Christian believers.

No ones is perfect. Which means people will make mistakes and be wrong.

You know what the greatest thing about being a Christian? It's seeing the "wrongs" in life, and making every effort to make them "right."

"Sum," I am in no position and nor will I ever be in a position to judge you and your devotion to being a Christian. But I am sick of this characterization that just because "I, she, he, they," go to Church, we have this predisposition of judging others. NO WE DON'T. NO ONE DOES, AND NO ONE SHOULD.

Please stop speaking as though "it's the church going ones that piss me off" people speak for the rest of us, because they certainly don't and they never will.

You want to make the world a better place? Start with yourself.

I think everyone should send a letter to the editor of the NY Times. It took two people to write this article and not only did they get the song title wrong, but the song is technically not the last number. These facts could have been confirmed with a 30 second internet search.

Hey Namo, get your facts straight. If the AWOL BS comes from Michael Moore, it is suspect as I believe nothing that turd with 2 legs has to say. If he went AWOL, how did he get an honarable discharge ? At least he was in as opposed to Mr Clinton who totally avoided it & went of his way to do everything to avoid the draft

If a Dem gets in, we will be hit again & the economy will be worse than you think it is now. Until something is done to stop outsourcing of jobs, we will stay stagnant. In case you are interested, I think there are 3 reasons for this phenomenon

1. American workers constantly ask for more & more. Our friends in Pittsburgh readily admit the steel unions cut their own throat with their unending demands which made producing steel there a virtual impossiblity. Wall St want to see profits. The easiest way for companies to do that is to cut jobs. Someone in India will work for a fraction of what an Ameican worker demands so here is an instant way to save money

2. High Cost of Medical to employers. Since lawyers love to sue doctors for the slightest thing, malpractice insurance goes up so doctors fees go up which than increases costs to insurance companies which pass it along to employers. The democrats pie in the sky national health insurance for everyone will only increase costs & cause taxes to constantly rise to pay for them. Namo, I do not know about you but I don't want 50 to 60 % of my income taken in taxes foor this

3. Lawsuits. Companies are being hit with frivoulous lawsuits like many sexual harassment ones etc. The easiest way for a company to insulate themselves from this is have the jobs in India where they do not worry about this. The democrats are in the hip pockets of the attorneys so forget about tort reform.

Kerry is really worried about the little guy. Edwards is a trial lawyer - oh please. If your boy does get in, whatever will you & the Bush haters do as he won't be there as your punching bag. If 3 years into a Kerry term unemployment is 6 % will it still be Bush's fault. Kerry saying we need to fight terrorists in court as opposed to what we are doing now is laughable. By all means, let's have Bin Laden served with court papers & led out in cuffs doing the perp walk

I eagerly await your response ( not )

"If the AWOL BS comes from Michael Moore, it is suspect as I believe nothing that turd with 2 legs has to say." Uh, no, it came from the front page of the Boston Globe this week. And Tim Russert asked him all about it on Meet the Press today. And Alfred E. Nucular's response was, "I'll tell you what makes me mad is when people suggest that National Guard service isn't service." Which is a nice point, but NOBODY had said that at any point in the discussion. In fact, the only people who ever use "The National Guard Service isn't REAL service" are Republicans, when they have a candidate who was a full-time soldier running against a Dem who "copped out" by doing National Guard service. Bush gave a typical non-answer answer. HE WAS AWOL! But, uh, you know, the records are missing, but he was there. MMMmmmm hmmmmmm. The dog ate my records.

Also, please stop deciding that your straw man du jour is "my boy." You first told me Clinton was "my boy." I asked you for an example of any point at which I had ever said I liked Clinton. You couldn't find any, because there weren't any. Then you said Howard Dean was my boy. Ditto. Now you're saying Kerry is my boy. I am NOT a polygamist, and I have no boys. My vote goes to whoever can beat Bush. If the election were held today, that would be Kerry. Because I believe every splinter in his platform? No. Because I believe Bush is an unintelligent puppet of arch conservative special interest groups and lets energy lobbyists compose energy bills? ABSOLUTELY.

Any American citizen watching Bush on Meet the Press today should be embarassed at the least, or ashamed at the most.

NATALIE WAS RIGHT!

To get back to the subj...

Too bad EVITA wasn't running. It might've inspired a stronger stand on key issues. (Everyone knows Laura's best pals are all Dems.) Until the election, I'd take Laura over Tim Russert's monosyllabic brunch buddy any day. And the mizzuz' rep is not that a of a Bible -thumper. Unlike her husband, the woman at least reads. And chose a real show. You know Big Barbara, her mama-in-law, would've demanded seats to MILLIE.

Still if only Arthur Laurents had been in the house last night! Arthur might've pulled an Eartha Kitt on Lady Bird.

You're right, Namo, about Arthur's pre-Stonewall sensibility on all things gay. But I don't think he'd hold his tongue on Iraq. Ah well, Gypsy is closing ... and the Bush's are on their way out of DC. As Meet the Press proved: It was "Being There," without the comic timing of Peter Sellers.

I must say, per your other posts, Namo, we're all kindred spirits standing in solidarity on this gay marriage as litmus test thing. The Rovian machinery would love to make this a new divisive tool in this election. Yet Kerry has already masterfully trumped their strategy over the weekend, announcing three times, "my stance on gay marriage is the same as the vice president's..." No thinking Democrat (serious about moving the Bush family outta the White House), straight, gay, transgendered, or Penguin, thinks gay marriage is a front burner issue in this election year. Not a one.

Will Alfred E. Nucular ever, ever have the cojones to debate whomever ends up the Democratic nominee? I mean, if it's Kerry, I can just imagine the myriad Benson to Quayle moments. "I actually READ newspapers, George, and let me tell you, you're no reader."

well, well, well, i take some time off to work on my home studio and you busy little bees just go to town!

oh where to begin...

let's start with debates: namo, remember that gw debated ann richards and lived and managed to win that election in texas (without the supreme court's help, i might add). gw also debated al gore and the results of that were at best a draw or, if you're feeling charitable, a gore split decision. c'mon a sitting vp with a surplus and peace against as you so glowlingly refer to him, a chimp? shoulda been a walk in the park, even for al.

once the campaign gets into gear and the democrats decide who it is they actually want to nominate (for those who think kerry is a foregone conclusion, think again as even if he wins 'em all between now and then he still won't have the necessary delegates by march 2nd) the republican mcahine will spring to life, open up one eager eye, and begin to prepare young georgie boy. if it is kerry, just remember that there's a lotta "c students" out there who'll look at him sneering and talking down to bush like he's a child not in a favorable way (i'm not saying it's right, but that's the way it is). i contend that most of bush's public image is a carefully cultured act. one that presents him as the bumpkin and allows his adversaris to underestimate him as they've done time and again. gore shoulda made mincemeat out of him and didn't, nor did ann, and i think she's a helluva lot better at debating than any of the current candidates save for reverend al.

the interview today: ugh. at least he didn't drool. in hindsight, the transcripts are not nearly as bad. just kidding, i thought he was fine. he's not the most articulate president we've ever had and sometimes i wish he was more like silent cal.

the show: i'm blown away that they were able to get through the performance and the evening without a big ol' hissy fit being thrown by someone at the theatre.

auntie vish, it's not nice to attack children for the sins (or alleged sins) of their parents. nor is it fair to toss about drug accusations when the only family member to whom they might actually apply would be brother jeb's daughter noelle (or gw, but that's for another thread).

desertion is a serious charge and i would hope that when the documentation surfaces that refutes those charges that the accusers will be as vociferous in their mea culpas as they have been thus far in their denunciations. but there is always the possibility that since conspiracy theories being what they are that those accusers can now deny the legitimacy of any documents that do surface. i wish i was on the other side for a little whiule so i could use that kinda logic, "you're the devil and i don't care how many birth certificates you produce to verify that you are human i deny their legitimacy, hence there is absolutely no way for you to refute my allegations, therefore you are the devil."

and since you were all wondering, yes i have found a kicking guitar sound that rumbles the apartment.
