There's an article in the current New York Magazine "Is Tony Kushner Psychic?" in which the interviewer talks of how prescient Kushner was to write about Afghanistan in HOMEBODY/KABUL a couple of years before 9/11 and how apt it is that his CAROLINE, OR CHANGE deals with issues of race and class and poverty in Lousiana and opens with "there ain’t no under ground in Louisiana, there is only under water.”
Later in the article, there's mention of a possible CAROLINE benefit concert:
"Despite its concerns with race and class, and its terrifyingly timely water imagery, Caroline “didn’t exactly come to mind” as Kushner watched the scenes of chaos. But some friends called to point out the show’s relevance; others told him they’d found solace in listening to the album of his words and Jeanine Tesori’s score. Out of those conversations has grown a tentative plan to reunite the show’s original Broadway cast for a benefit concert next month. “Obviously it has resonances with the whole horrible situation,” he says."
This is amazing news! Read the entire article at:

I have been thinking a lot about some of the lyrcis in Caroline or Change since the Louisiana crisis.

The benefit should be held in LA

And I imagine Pinkins' voice should be healed and well-rested at this point. It'll be fun to hear her take on that score at full power again.

Damn. I'd love to hear this score performed live again. What an amazing, powerful show. One of my all-time favorites.
