CATS on Reading Rainbow

Does anyone else remember the episode of Reading Rainbow in the 80's when they visted CATS and the actress playing Grizabela (sp?) did a make-up demo?? Man, that was great!!
I remember watching Reading Rainbow all the time after that, hoping they'd replay it... Too bad I didn't turn into a big reader as a result. Oh well.

Sorry for the random post! :)

I vaguely remember it.

God, I love Reading Rainbow.

Now I'm gonna have the theme song in my head all day.

I do!! That was what made me want to see CATS, and it probably started my love of theatrical makeup.

Same here! Cats also sparked my interest in Scene Design. Loved that trash heap!

What shows inspired everyone else?

I remember that.
I believe I have it on VHS somewhere.
The piece was of Loni Ackerman making up as Grizzabella.
You got to see all of the cats making up, and clips of the Jellicle Ball, the Heaviside Layer...and most importantly, Loni's final *go for the throat* verse of "Memory." Ahh...I loved it.

YES! I love that show, and that was the first memory I have of being interested in a broadway show.

Yay for 80's/90's children nostalgia. I feel young, being a child of the 90's. And possibly old for the kids who have only seen the rerun.

I think I have this on Beta or VHS somewhere.

Loni Ackerman was the "Grizabella" they showed singing "Memory". I didn't care too much for her voice. Yes, I was petty little bitch when I was 12 or whenever they showed that.
