When I was very young I went to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City. While walking around Times Square, I vaguely remember seeing what I believe are performers from the musical CATS when it was playing at the Winter Garden on Broadway. I don't remember if it was actually in front of the Winter Garden, or somewhere else in Times Square. Perhaps at the TKTS booth?

For those who remember/know:

Were these the actual performers in the show, or were they hired solely for the purpose of putting on the costumes to promote the show? These weren't those cheap fake looking costumes that are used for Elmo and such that you see out on the streets. These WERE the costumes & makeup from the show.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
