CCP's Beauty and the Beast video article

Hey guys and gals....

One of the local television stations came to the Cumberland County Playhouse and did an interview and shot some footage of our show and interviewed Holly O'Brien who plays our Belle. Here's the link!!

Oh, just wanted to add...I had problems viewing the video when I first clicked on their website. I got it to work by clicking on play below the video window, then right-clicking on the window itself and choosing play from the pop-up.

re: CCP's Beauty and the Beast video article

Thanks, Ron. The previous thread about what these regional Beauty productions would look like got me curious. Here are some pages I was able to find with production shots:

Cumberland County Playhouse (TN):
http://www.ccplayhouse.com/static/photos_beauty.html

Flat Rock Playhouse (NC):
http://www.flatrockplayhouse.org/02_broadband/z_photo_gallery/photo_gallery_2004_frameset.htm

North Shore Music Theatre (MA):
http://www.nsmt.org/calendar/showdetailpage.cfm?id_show=6657072

Seaside Music Theatre (FL):
http://www.seasidemusictheater.org/press/beautyphotos.htm

Barn Theatre (MI):
http://www.barntheatre.com/review/2004/PRBeauty.htm

I have not been able to find any pictures of other productions that have already opened and/or closed, such as Frost Fire Theatre (ND), Palo Alto Children's Theatre (CA), New Bedford Festival Theatre (MA), and Music Theatre of Wichita (KS).

Besides these, I have found 32 theatres (professional, university, community, children's, and other) who have announced that they will be doing Disney's Beauty and the Beast before the end of 2005. Some are co-productions with or will be renting from theatres who have already opened (for example, Casa Manana and Rainbow Stage are, I believe, both using Music Theatre of Wichita's physical production).

It's certainly a challenge to make the show fit both audience expecations and Disney's tight restrictions, isn't it?

Carousel Dinner Theatre in Akron, OH is doing Beauty and the Beast next season. This theatre employs Broadway and non-Broadway performers/creative staff, so it should be a pretty good production.

Believe it or not, BroadwayWorld's very own Jamie McGonnigal was in a production of Big River at this theatre.

Awwww, how do you know about that? That was a LONG time ago, it seems. I really enjoyed working there. Great cast, great housing for actors. I recommend working there. :)

Thanks for the link to the New Bedford pics and the info about Carousel's production.

I have now found about 60 theatres who will be doing Disney's Beauty and the Beast by the end of 2005. It's really amazing how many people want to do this show, even with all of its challenges!

Ponine,

I know several people who have had problems with the video feed on that website. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you have the latest version of Windows Media Player installed. Even then, I had to click on play, then right click on the window itself and click on play from the popup menu that comes up.

I am loving these beauty productions.. it gives our regional theatres a chance to show off their technical abilities..

I don't know if you are interested but here are some backstage photos of New Bedford's production...it will give you a better idea of costumes as most of the production photos are from far away. I do know that the house there was 1200 and they sold out almost every show...so there is a huge audience out there for this show.

Music Theatre Interbational usually lists upcoming productions on the show pages on the MTI website.

re: CCP's Beauty and the Beast video article

I googled various combinations of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" and things like "auditions," "2004," "2005," and "season." The MTI list is fairly short relative to what I have found.

I can email you a list if you're interested.
