#1CHESS - AMATEUR RIGHTS
Posted: 11/19/08 at 2:11pmHi all. I know Samuel French, Inc. holds the amateur rights to the Broadway version of CHESS. Does anyone know if there are rights available to the revised versions of the show? Who would I contact to see if these are available? I know other amateur companies have presented revised versions of the piece. I am directing a production of the show in concert and, quite honestly, would rather not present the show in it's mess of a Broadway form. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Not sure about concert rights but generally amateur groups are stuck with the Broadway script (although plenty take liberties and hope no one notices.)
Of course dropping Samuel French a note is the best thing to do.
