Ever notice that the theme in the SUPERMAN movies is quite similar to the CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG flying theme?
Coincidence?

I'm not infering that there is a conspiracy...Just listen to track 14 and the end of track 23 of the London Cast recording of CHITTY and the Williams Superman theme and tell me you don't hear it...same beat and almost the same chords...
All I wanted to know was if Williams was paying homage to the CHITTY movie...and all I got was sarcasm...

Instead of relying on the collective knowledge of the board, I should have just done an internet search...
From the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER review of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG...

Perhaps it was merely my imagination, but the musical refrain that accompanies the flying of the titular vehicle in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" seemed to bear a resemblance to the theme from "Superman." Of course, this befits a show whose advertising tagline might as well read, "You'll believe a car can fly!"
