Hey All -
I'm headed to the Hirschfeld with my father for Saturday's matinee of CURTAINS, and I was wondering if David Hyde Pierce (and/or) the rest of the bunch stepped outside afterwards for autographs, pictures, etc.? I've been LONGING to meet DHP since forever, having missed out on seeing him in SPAMALOT. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you kindly.
Best,
- Mike
When I saw the show, David Hyde Pierce, Debra Monk, Ed Hibbert, Megan Sikora, Karen Ziemba, Jill Paice, and Noah Racey came out. David Hyde Pierce came out last and I left right after, so I don't know if additional cast members came out after him.
I also stage doored a few days later and he came out again. All of the above came out as well including Jason Danieley.
There's usually a small crowd...they try their best to get to everyone.
Have fun at the show!
Really? They're kind and super-amazing even at matinee performances?!? This makes me SO happy!
Yeah they usually come out!
They were nice to the fans both times I saw them.
Usually I get nervous in front of actors and don't know what to say, so all I really mutter is "Good job, I had a great time!"
I said that to Edward Hibbert and he didn't say anything to me or look at me, so at first I was like "Oh no, is this one of those rude actor things?" but I think he just didn't hear me. Overall, he was great to the stagedoorers.
Did anyone ever see his purple suit?
Oh dear...a purple suit!? Reminds me of something DHP said in his Broadway.com interview. Something about Edward Hibbert's charcter was just like the real-life Edward Hibbert only much more subdued.
Even now, having seen the interview hundered of times over, I still find myself rolling with that comment. The visuals I get from it. Good stuff!
He came out in a purple suit one day. He looked like he stepped out of the disco age or something,...even though I don't think he wore bellbottoms.
Mike,
I hope you and your father get to meet DHP after the Saturday matinee. I've had the pleasure of seeing him at the stage door after both Spamalot and Curtains and he definitely deserves his reputation of being one of the most gracious, down-to-earth and accommodating performers on Broadway.
Enjoy the show!

I did the stage door after the Wednesday matinee this week, and just about everyone came out and signed while I was there. David Hyde Pierce was the last one that I saw, and someone with the show told the fans that he always comes out and signs, so I think your chances of meeting him are excellent, unless he has some other engagement that ties him up then. He, and the rest of the cast, were very nice to the fans. Have fun!

Dave's a great guy when it comes to interacting with the fans.
What about Ernie Sabella?
I met David Hyde Pierce at the stage door after Spamalot. He was very quiet, although he signed autographs, took pictures, etc. Overall, he was really nice and humble (so it seemed at least). The most surprising thing was when he looked at the crowd to make sure he got everyone, and went back in the theater. I assume, therefore, that he came out then just to meet the fans. Unless he has changed his ways for some reason, it would make no sense for you to have a problem meeting him.
As for the others, I only remember seeing Noah Racey and Karen Ziemba in Never Gonna Dance. Both, also, were really nice and personable.
Ernie Sabella came out when I saw it, but it was opening night, so I dunno if that made a difference...?
Ernie Sabella didn't come out while I was there both times I stage-doored. I really wanted to get his autograph and maybe picture because, again, I am a Saved by the Bell fan and enjoyed his role as Leon Carosi in the Malibu Sands Beach Club Episodes!

Both times I saw SpamAlot when he was in it, he always came out and signed and posed for pictures. He's such a nice guy. Edward was the same when I saw Droswy last year. He came out, signed, and posed for pictures.
Ernie Sabella came out and turned to everyone who was waiting and shouted "hakuna matata" after Wednesday ( 3/28 )'s performance. He was very nice and happily signed and took a picture with us. David Hyde Pierce came out last, and although he was very quiet, he was incredibly nice as well. Karen Ziemba seemed to be in a rush and didn't stop for too many fans. Noah Racey, John Bolton, Jason Danieley, and Debra Monk were especially friendly and nice to talk to.

e, if it was the matinee, Karen was rushing to the Career Transitions for Dancers event. She's always very amenable to meeting and signing.
Rath, it actually was the evening performance. We were a little disappointed not to meet her, but everyone else was great.
Very unusual. But, she doesn't assume people are waiting for her either - she may have thought she got everyone who wanted her. Just a guess.

Edward has a bunch of weird suits that he wears.
DHP did come out at Spamalot, so I assume that he comes out for this.
