Just wondering if there are many Canadians that have already seen the Broadway musical and have spread the word to our fellow Canucks how simply wonderful original the show is. Even with the horrible exchange rates two tickets cost us approximately $700 each Canadian for a memory of a lifetime that was more than worth it. Having all of the main principles in the show was an added bonus as we saw the show on a Sunday evening and wasn't sure if Lin was going to be in it. The audience went wild as soon as he came onstage and I knew I was in for quite an experience! I really don't know how that man does not get hoarse or lose his voice performing so many shows a week with such a demanding role! I presume all the vocals are live and that there are no backing tracks as of the sound was spectacular in the theater.
I am from Montreal and was wondering if there any fellow Montrealers or Canadians that have seen the show and how they got their tickets and their review of the show.......

Not yet. I wish I could, but with the exchange rate, it's just too expansive. But I spread the word in hope that, one day, there will be enough fans for the tour to stop in Montreal (or at least Ottawa).
I saw it last year in April when it was still off-Broadway. I didn't know much about it, but i knew it was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and I wanted to see it because i enjoyed In the Heights. It was a lot cheaper then - 3rd row orch. for $130, and the exchange rate was also better back then. I enjoyed it a lot - enough to buy a box seat ticket at the box office last November to see it again in May (i go approximately 1 long weekend each spring and 1 each fall, sometimes two in the spring - always when Porter has really cheap flight sales to Newark). The price was higher that time, and with the exchange rate having gotten a lot worse, that will probably be my last trip for a while until it gets better. Hopefully it will come to Toronto on tour at some point, and i'm sure i'll see it again then - i subscribe to the Mirvish shows. Good luck with lobbying for a Montreal and/or Ottawa tour stop - I hope that you get to see it again if you want to!
Yeah I simply can't justify that kind of money for a 2+ hr experience. I mean, that ($700.00) is about 200 shy of my rent! I could afford to see it but then i'd have to live there for the rest of the month!
If it comes to Chicago next year- might make a long weekend of it then.
Hello - yes I've seen it! We went in November and I had just started listening to the obc album. Even though I knew I was going to love it I had absolutely no idea that I'd become as obsessive about it as I have. I have listened to that recording EVERY day since. I pretty much know it by heart. We paid $377 for our orch seats. I think we were row E. I'm going back in June solo and have a ticket. It was $450 I think? I'm going to do the cemetery visit at Trinity and the Hamilton walking tour. I also have a ticket for November. I got that one on the Amex presale so I think it was $277 or something like that.
Believe me I am doing my best to spread the #yayhamlet to everyone I know. I think my friends just want me to shut up about it by now :)
