Do Box Offices sell tickets over the phone or do they just answer questions about the show?
I beleive they sell too.

You can't call most Broadway box offices direct -- telecharge or ticketmaster (depending on the show) handles all questions and sales.

I was under the impression that you can call the box office- it's just really hard to get the number because they want Telecharge and Ticketmaster to handle everything. Kind of like getting Amazon's customer service number. :) Thanks for the clarification.
I called either Telecarge or Ticketmaster(forget which one) and was transfered to the Palace's box office to get last minute tickets to AIDA(one of the best decisions I ever made)

Just to clarify further -- you CAN call the box office, but given that they're typically staffed with only one or two people at a time (who are there to help customers there in the lobby), they'd greatly prefer you call telecharge/ticketmaster (and as Plum points out, it's not easy to get the numbers).
Thanks everybody!!

One cannot call the Shubert-owned box offices directly. Tele-charge which is owned and operated by the Shubert Organization, is set up to handle any and all calls that would ordinarily have gone to the theatre. By now there are thousands of former employees (like me) who can attest to that fact.
Remember in the "old days" when you called the theatre, invariably you did not speak with someone in the box office, but rather someone in the mail room which was 'upstairs'--away from the B.O.
