I do love her singing, and I agree, she'd have no issue with the songs.
The first produciton I saw was a tour with Richard Harris and Betsy Joslyn... it was TORTURE.
CAMELOT is one of those shows that is begging for a fresh and inventive approach, otherwise it comes off as three hours of chain mail and trumpets.
BEFORE I GAZE AT YOU AGAIN is one of my favorite L&L songs.
Did anyone here see Rock Hudson in the show when he toured with it in the late 70s?

MusicalDirector109...I saw the Paper Mill Production and it was the most beautiful production of "Camelot" I had ever seen...truly stunning visually. Brent Barrett was King Arthur and was really wonderful. It was nice to hear the songs actually being sung. Glory Crampton and Matt Bogart were Guenevere and Lancelot. They were both stunning to look at on stage and sang the music beautifully but were slightly dull on the acting side. The music really shone in this production as the voices of all the principals and the incredible ensemble were wonderful. Barrett Foa was a particualarly excellent Mordred.
Interestingly enough, Jennifer Hope Wills was the understudy for Guenevere in that production and after getting to see her as Christine in "Phantom", I think that she would make a wonderful Guenevere. I think her youthful spirit, easy charm and beautiful voice would be perfect...not to mention the great red hair. I think Rachel York could also be great with her beauty and comedic sense. I would stay away from the Kelli O'Hara and Laura Benanti...as much as I love them and their voices, I just don't think they have enough charm for this particular role. If they ever did get around to trying a revival, I suppose they would cast the role of King Arthur with a star name but I can't really think now who would be great. I also like it if Arthur is on the slightly younger side than normally portrayed. He was the "boy king" after all. I also feel that having all three principal leads in the same age range helps to create more tension within the triangle. I actually like someone's idea of Ewan MacGregor or someone like him. I would also love to have a Lancelot with a beautiful rich baritone instead of the wimpy modern tenor sound they often go for today. I would actually love to see Barrett Foa reprise his role of Mordred in a Broadway production.
Sorry that I went on a bit...I have been waiting for a revival of this for years. Wasn't Roundabout planning on working on the script or was that a rumor?

Well, I like CAMELOT - It is especially important now with its themes of bringing democracy to an opressed people. Much like our Glorious President is doing in Iraq.
It also says somehing about the devestating effects of the sin of adultery. The entire dream of democracy in Camelot is destroyed because of this shameful and sinful behavior. That is why liberal like Clinton won't ever make the world better - and only god-fearing christians like our glorious Bush will.
We can learn a lot from this show.

The occult aspect of the show does bother me, however.

I had the good fortune to see Camelot with the original Broadway cast. It was magical. Few things have topped Burton's act one closing scene! I've seen the show several times since and it has never failed to bore me, although Arthur Treacher's pre-show speech when the tour played Boston was a riot.
Tom14850, all I can say is that I'm jealous. Burton's voice is as musical as an instrument. Speaking voices like Burton's don't seem to come along too often.
