Further to DREAMGIRLS, I wish that there would be cameos in the film version of the show by some of the original cast, much like Chita was featured in the film CHICAGO. Here are some possibilities:
1. Sheryl Lee Ralph as Deena's mom. She's never seen in the show, but has a telephone call with Deena while the Dreamettes are on the road with Thunder Early.
2. Loretta Devine as Edna Burke at the Apollo Talent Show.
3. Jennifer Holiday as a member of Les Style.
4. Cleavant Derricks as Jerry, the club owner.
5. Ben Harney as one of the film executives wooing Deena to star in the film.
6. Obba Babbatunde as the director of the ABC Star Cavalcade ("Heavy, heavy...you got so heavy, baby...")
Or perhaps have Sheryl Lee, Loretta, Jennifer, and Deborah Burrell as the Stepp Sisters!

Me, too -- of all the "Lorrell"s I had the pleasure to see (Loretta Devine, Adriane Lenox, Terry Burrell, Arnetia Walker, maybe a few others), Ms. Devine was definitely the best!
Of all the "Deena"s, I liked Sheryl Lee Ralph -- when she would give it her all. There towards the end of her run in the show, though, she was doing a little "phoning it in". After her, though, I enjoyed Linda Leilani Brown -- must have been all those teeth. :)
Adriane Lenox played Lorrell? Didn't know that, interesting. I'd love to see some original members make cameos...Every time a new thread is started about this show I get more and more excited!
Cheers,
Christopher
